Korean boyband BTS cancels concert planned in Korea due to coronavirus outbreak.
Due to the growing number of patients with coronavirus in South Korea, K-Pop boy group BTS has announced that it will be canceling its concerts due to the outbreak.
According to their post on WeVerse, the “Map of the Soul” tour scheduled for April 11, 12, 18, and 19 at Seoul's Jamsil Olympic Stadium have been called off and buyers will be automatically refunded.
“While we hope that the situation will improve, we must take into consideration the health and safety of hundreds and thousands of guests as well as our artists and the dire impact a last-minute cancellation may have on guests from overseas, production companies and staff.
“We have thus determined that with approximately one month left before the Seoul concert is set to begin, it is unavoidable that the concert must be canceled without further delay.
“Please understand that this decision was made after extensive and careful consideration to cooperate with the government's measures on restricting public events as well as municipal advisories on the use of cultural and sports facilities.”
The concerts in Seoul were originally scheduled to be the opening shows of the world tour, but with the cancellation, their first date will likely be on April 25th in Santa Clara, California.
This isn't the first time the group and its agency, BigHit Entertainment, had taken precautionary measures regarding the pandemic.
During the release of their album “Map of the Soul:7,” the group went on a full digital-only mode by live-streaming the global press conference without inviting the press onsite.
The company and the band also requested fans to not come to the venue.

In other BTS news, the septet recently released their new album “Map of the Soul:7” and industry analysts have predicted that more than 340,000 units will be sold within the first week.
Their second and official music video for “ON” has also been released yesterday, February 27 (11 pm Manila time) and is reported to be the biggest YouTube Premiere of all time with more than 1.4 million viewers tuned in for the clip's debut.
