BTS member RM has released an apology statement as fans grew worried about the group's future, after the singer revealed that BTS had considered disbanding several times in the past.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the BTS leader shared a letter on WeVerse, acknowledging ARMY's concerns and explaining that his earlier comments stemmed from “personal frustration.”
He opened his apology by acknowledging the impact his comments had on fans, explaining that his frustration during the livestream led him to speak impulsively. According to RM, he hadn't intended to cause worry, saying, “I'm sorry if my live two days ago made a lot of ARMYs feel tired. I got so many messages from people worried about me… I regret having done the live now, but I was just feeling frustrated at the moment.”
The idol went on to ask fans for understanding and support as he reassured them of his commitment to his activities with the group.
“Please look at me kindly, even just a little. I'll focus on making music, practicing choreography together, thinking about new content, sleeping well, and living like that,” RM said, sharing updates about his daily life, including plans to take a driving test soon.
His apology followed a December 6 livestream on WeVerse where he openly discussed BTS' situation during their long hiatus, admitting that the members had “thought tens of thousands of times” about whether to disband or pause their activities.
RM then spoke about the criticism surrounding his inactivity, explaining, “Many people ask, 'Why did you waste the second half of 2025?' or 'Why didn't you do anything?'” he said. “I also wanted to pursue various activities after being discharged, but there were circumstances I can't talk about…”
The BTS member admitted to facing sleep deprivation, intense pressure, and challenging preparations for their comeback, but stressed that the group chose to move forward because of the “love between the members and respect for fans.”
RM also updated fans about BTS' long-awaited return, confirming that the group's first full-length album in nearly six years is slated for release in March 2026. This comeback will be their first time recording as a complete seven-member group in almost four years, following military enlistments and individual hiatuses.
