RM, the leader of the global group BTS, donated 100 million won (around P4.12 million) for the restoration and preservation of the Korean cultural heritage abroad, Yonhap News Agency reported Thursday.
According to the news outlet, the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation said the rapper-producer donated the money to be used to “preserve, restore, and utilize Korean cultural assets abroad.”
It also noted that this is the second time RM has donated to the foundation affiliated with the Cultural Heritage Administration.
Yonhap said he donated the same amount a year ago, but was kept under wraps.
RM, whose real name is Kim Namjoon, has always been one to promote Korean art, especially on a global scale.
In fact, he recently narrated an audio guide for select pieces in the exhibit of modern Korean artworks at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in Los Angeles, California.
The guides are in English and Korean and can be accessed at LACMA and the website of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA).
