Bubbles Paraiso

Bubbles Paraiso opens up about being criticized for being a morena.

Model Bubbles Paraiso got real with her journey to acceptance of her natural skin color despite being rejected from jobs because of being "too dark."

She wrote in an Instagram post, "When I was 17, my agent told me I was 'too dark' and I might not get casted in any commercials because I was morena and tvc's usually casted mestiza's. She told me that I needed to bleach my skin and maybe try to achieve my brother's natural complexion - which is 10x lighter than mine.

Bubbles described the negative feelings and insecurity she got from the discrimination. "I felt ugly, I felt that I wasn't enough. But one thing I didn't feel like doing was changing myself just to fit into another person's idea of beauty."

However, things took a turn when other talent agents scouted her for her bronze complexion. She said "Days later, I got the call for the lead part of an ad - and the biggest reason why I got the job was because of my color. They loved my perpetual tan. I was exactly what they were looking for."

Bubbles added, "I had so many issues with my body as I navigated through my late teens and early twenties because some people made me feel like I was never enough. I wasn't thin enough, tall enough, pretty enough. But that didn't sway me. (I did get an eating disorder at some point but that's another story)."

She gave a message for other girls to learn how to love their natural beauty. "Never let anyone make you believe that you're not already beautiful the way that you are. One person's idea of beauty does not define others'. You are ENOUGH. You are beautiful. Remember that.
