Camille Prats as Olive in Mommy Dearest

Offering something new, Camille Prats wanted to explore uncharted waters in accepting her first villain role as Olive in 'Mommy Dearest'.

Gone is the nice and kind Princess Sarah as Kapuso star Camille Prats played her first-ever villain role in the Afternoon Prime series Mommy Dearest. According to the actress, her acceptance of the role is her way of exploring “uncharted waters.”

In her interview with Tonie Pua on the GMA Pinoy TV podcast, Camille noted how she felt blessed working in the entertainment industry for almost 31 years, noting that “most of the things right now are short-lived.”

“Being able to still do what I've always loved to do since I was young, sobrang blessing talaga 'yun for me," she shared.

Camille also noted her excitement to finally play a villain role after years of portraying the “kawawa” role.

“Siguro nandito na rin ako sa point ng life ko, ng career din, na parang I want to explore uncharted waters, ganiyan. Parang gusto ko naman na may iba akong maihain sa viewers,” Camille said.

The Kapuso actress clarified that playing the kawawa does have its challenges. However, playing a villain will be a challenge in its own right, asking herself whether she will be able to pull it off.

“First, when people found out na ito 'yung role ko at si Katrina (Halili) 'yung mabait, they were like, 'What?' parang 'Baka nalito kayo? Parang may mali.' 'Yun 'yung nakikita naming comment, na parang nagkamali yata 'yung GMA, parang napagbaliktad nila 'yung casting,” Camille said.

Because of this, she and Kat became more motivated to show that they can pull of their reversed roles in the series.

“'Mars, we gotta prove this.' We need to show people na we can also do something different apart from what they are so used to,'” Camille recalled.
