'To Have And To Hold' star Carla Abellana finds fulfillment in using her social media power to advance her cause for the protection of animal rights in the country.
Aside from being a gifted actress, To Have And To Hold star Carla Abellana is known as a passionate advocate for animal rights' protection and welfare in the country.
In the grand media conference of To Have And To Hold held virtually on September 21, GMANetwork.com asked her what pushed her to advance the cause of animal rights.
The daughter of Rey “PJ” Abellana explained, “Hindi lang siya for the sake of having an advocacy, hindi lang dahil kumbaga as celebrities we have a social media presence, but really it's what I'm passionate about."
She added, “I grew up talaga being an animal lover, so nadala ko lang 'yun at nagkataon lang- bonus na lang siya actually na in the time of social media may ganitong platform like Instagram, YouTube, Facebook para we get to use our voices.”

Although she doesn't believe that celebrities should be forced to pick a particular advocacy, but their power and influence as showbiz personalities carry a lot of weight and it will be a waste if it is not used for the greater good.
She noted, “For other celebrities naman, hindi naman din problema na there's not one particular advocacy that they focus on. It's not something to be forced.”
“Siguro kung advice man, they should push for something that they are passionate about. Nakakapanghinayang kasi, sobrang sayang din na hindi magamit natin 'yung voices natin- the opportunity to be heard everywhere, even in other countries,” Carla said.
“So sayang 'yun and ang laki ng impact nun sa public. It's actually just a bonus for me, kahit hindi naman ako celebrity tutuloy ko pa rin naman 'yun. It's one way to feel fulfilled na rin as a celebrity,” she added.
