Carol Banawa with her mom and sister

OPM icon Carol Banawa is mourning the loss of her mother Celine.

OPM singer Carol Banawa expressed her grief on her Instagram account as she mourns the passing of her mother, Celine, who died of cancer last Saturday, May 16.

In her post, Carol shared a photo of her mother when she was still alive, accompanied by a message stating that her mother passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones.

She also expressed how deeply she already misses her mother, stating that words cannot express what she is feeling over her loss.

“Last night, our beloved mama passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by the people who loved her most. Our hearts are broken, and we already miss her more than words can ever express,” Carol wrote in the caption.

Reflecting on her mother's beautiful spirit, Carol remembered her warmth, her selfless nature, and her unwavering devotion to her faith.

“We will miss the way she could light up a room simply with her presence. We will miss her laughter, her stories, her warmth, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her,” she said.

“She had one of the kindest hearts — humble, generous, selfless, and always thinking of others before herself. No matter what she went through, her trust and faith in God never wavered. She carried herself with so much grace, strength, and love, and she touched so many lives because of it,” she continued.

Carol also beautifully detailed how deeply cherished her mother was, highlighting the immense love that defined her life.

“Mama loved deeply and wholeheartedly, and anyone who knew her was blessed by her kindness and care,” Carol expressed.

While navigating the profound grief of the loss, the Iingatan Ka singer found solace in the thought of a heavenly reunion. Her mother is now reunited with Carol's late father, Amado Banawa, and her late brother, Alexander.

“But now, Mama, you finally get to rest. Now, you get to be with Papa and Kuya again — the two people you loved and missed so dearly. While we grieve deeply here on earth, we also find peace and joy knowing that you are now with our Lord Jesus Christ, whom you loved with all your heart,” she wrote.

Leaving her followers in tears, Carol wrapped up her heartbreaking tribute with a beautiful nod to a bittersweet heavenly reunion.

Comforted by the thought of her late father and brother welcoming her mother home, the singer sealed her farewell with a deeply moving promise.

“Do not worry about us, Mama. We will be okay. You raised us with so much love, strength, faith, and resilience, and we will continue to do our best to make you proud every single day,” she said.

She continued, “So this is not goodbye. Until we all see each other again. Please give Papa and Kuya the biggest hug from all of us. We love you so much, Mama. Forever and always.”
