What else is there for you to accomplish in the pageant world once you've won the Miss Universe crown? For Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, it's to be part of the Miss Universe hosting line-up.
In a post on her Instagram account, Catriona looked back at her recently concluded hosting stint at the 71st Miss Universe pageant held in New Orleans. In the caption to the post, Catriona revealed that it was an “achievement unlocked” and something that she had always been dreaming of.
Aside from thanking the Miss Universe organization, Catriona also thanked her styling team, who she revealed came up with her outfits for the pageant without having fittings with her, as she was only in Manila “for a few hours to pack.”
Catriona was confirmed to be one of the backstage hosts of the Miss Universe pageant a couple of weeks before the coronation night, alongside "American Ninja Warrior" co-host Zuri Hall.
This is Catriona's second pageant hosting gig in the past six months. Last July, Catriona co-hosted the Binibining Pilipinas pageant along with 2016 Binibining Pilipinas Grand International Nicole Cordoves.
Aside from Catriona, another Filipino involved in this year's Miss Universe pageant was skincare expert Oliva Quido, who was part of the selection committee alongside beauty queens Ximena Navarrete, Wendy Fitzwilliam, and Olivia Jordan; rapper Big Freedia, journalist Emily Austin, executives Sweta Patel and Kathleen Ventrella, and model Mara Martin.
Philippine bet Celeste Cortesi bowed out early in the competition after failing to make it to the pageant's Top 16. The new “Force for Good” crown eventually went to Miss USA, R'bonney Gabriel.
