Catriona Gray on returning to Australia: “I'm sooo emotional…”
Former Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray was feeling sentimental as she shared to her 11 million followers on Instagram her feelings about returning to Australia after more than a year.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, it seems the long separation from her parents--Ian and Normita (Mita) Magnayaon-Gray had a profound effect on the Pinay beauty queen.
Global flights have been severely affected since 2020 due to the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which forced many countries to ban or restrict air travel to prevent the spread of the highly-contagious disease.
Catriona began her post by revealing some of the struggles she went through just to get back to Australia.
“After countless rescheduled flights, two flight cancelations, swab tests, stress, applications and waiting...I'm finally on my way to see my parents for the first time in one and a half years.”
She added that she made a vow to herself that despite her busy schedule, she will make time to see her family.
“When I won Ms Universe back in 2018 I made a vow to myself to see my dad at least 4 times a year, but since the pandemic we've spent the majority of time apart. I know I'm not alone, as so many families face the same reality in the time of CoVid.
“It's always been a fear of mine, having an older father, of not having enough time with him. I don't want to one day, be full of regret for not having given time to one of the most important people in my life. I'm sooo emotional writing this, my gahd.
“Wala lang, just wanted to share.
“I'm sending my whole heart to families who are in the same position as mine. Praying that you'll be together soon.”
Several of her celebrity and beauty queen friends reacted to her post and all were happy that she will get this opportunity to bond with her Daddy Ian and Mommy Normita.
