Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray shared on her Instagram her old photo with Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst who passed away on January 31.

Catriona wrote, "Ches...I can't believe the news. Rest in peace angel. The world will miss your light. 🕊 @chesliekryst"

Catriona, whom Cheslie described in a past interview as the "Mama Bear of the house" back when they were still living together in the Miss Universe apartment in New York City, also included a message for suicide prevention, "If you or someone you know is considering suicide, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), or go to suicidepreventionlifeline.org. Also, let's reach out to friends and loved ones. These continue to be isolating times, mental health is so important, let's not downplay its importance in the lives of every individual."

Thirty-year-old Cheslie Kryst competed for the Miss USA 2019 pageant and won the title. She was also an Emmy-award nominated correspondent for news show Extra.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Kryst had modeled for Express and served as an ambassador for the retail company. She was also on the National Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Kryst held a law degree and an MBA from Wake Forest University and had practiced as an attorney."

Her death was confirmed to THR as "death by suicide" after her body was found on Sunday morning, (January 31, Philippine time) on the sidewalk outside the Orion Condominium building, where she was a resident.
