Catriona Gray

Catriona Gray partners with the Philippine Red Cross to distribute relief goods.

Former Miss Universe Catriona Gray flew to Camarines Sur and Catanduanes on Saturday, December 5, to join the Philippine Red Cross to distribute cash grants and shelter tool kits for families affected by the recent typhoons that hit the country last month.

On Instagram, Catriona shared her journey to the province and encouraged her followers to continue giving donations to help more families in need.

“Traveled with @philredcross to typhoon-affected areas like Cam Sur and Catanduanes to be present in the giving of a multipurpose cash grant and shelter tool kits,” she wrote in the caption.

“And I want to say thank you to all of our donors, locally and abroad, who have come together to give to our typhoon-affected kababayans. It's one thing to call for awareness and donations on my platforms, but a completely different thing to be present in person when the aid is given.”

In November, Catriona responded after a netizen criticized her for being in Colombia instead of helping her province.

At the time, the 2018 Miss Universe titleholder was there to judge the Miss Universe Colombia pageant and said that she's been doing her part through the Philippine Red Cross.

She explained, “This invitation was extended months ago, and even though I'm away, I've been doing my part in working with @philredcross since the day of the typhoon to provide aid and relief to the affected areas. Thanks for your concern.”

Both Camarines Sur and Catanduanes are among the provinces in Bicol to be hit badly by Super Typhoon Rolly (international name Goni).

The following weeks, another typhoon, Ulysses, passed through Bicol, CALABARZON, and the National Capital Region.
