Fiction could be part reality, but in the case of “Boys Nxt Door,” it is reality that makes for interesting drama! A StarStruck love triangle transcends into GMA-7’s latest teen-oriented offering. Text by Jason S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.
The love triangle between
Aljur Abrenica,
Kris Bernal and
Mart Escudero during their
StarStruck days sparked a controversy among many of their fans. Although the competition is already over, and the real love triangle has already passed, in
Boys Nxt Door things are only beginning to heat up!

The slowest love triangle to blossom, Atom (played by Mart) has yet to show any feelings for Coffee (Kris). But Migs (Aljur) is already expressing how the girl means to him.
“Ako kasi ‘yung kikay, maarte, happy-go-lucky. Mahilig ako sa mga sayings,” is how Kris describes her character, Coffee. She quickly gets on the wrong foot with Atom, who finds her perkiness irritating most of the time. Unlike his twin brother though, Migs is already finding Coffee’s carpe diem attitude appealing.
“Magka-mukha ba kami?” Mart asks after saying that Aljur is playing his twin brother. What if they were? That would certainly be more problematic for Coffee, wouldn’t it?
None of the three actors know who Coffee will end up with, but they all have their own takes on what’s going on with their relationships.

Mart shares that while Atom isn’t showing interest in Coffee, it seems the latter is very much interested with him. “‘Yung pang-aasar ko sa kanya, gusto niya.” This of course, will prove to be a problem once Coffee realizes that Migs already has feelings for her.
“Love triangle nga,” Kris says with a laugh. But while the other love triangles already know where they’re heading, this one is really taking it’s time. “Hindi pa rin alam kung kanino ako mapupunta.”
Even though sparks are yet to be seen in the scenes when they’re together, there’s already chemistry between the three – owe it to their
StarStruck days.
As iGMA comments on this, Kris injects, “Wala raw ka-effort-effort? Parang ginawa namang for real ‘no?”

Asked who she would prefer to end up with, Kris would rather not say. Though, she did add as a joke, “Ako naman, kahit kanino naman ako mapunta, ok lang.”
