While Yasmien and Rey walk through their audience with the ingredients, she names substitute for the meat such as pork and seafood, as well as alternates for papaya and malunggay. The Kapuso actress also reveals that she likes adding tomatoes to the dish.
She revealed, “Naglalagay ako ng tomatoes sa Tinola ko kasi napansin ko mas malinamnam. Mas gusto ko 'yung lasa ng tomatoes sa Tinola.”

Judy Ann Santos reinvents the classic Tinola dish with corn and basil as her key ingredients. She prefers cooking it with sayote, too.
According to Judy Ann, she likes adding herbs to dishes she cooks.
She says, “There's a certain flavor na makukuha sa basil na hindi makukuha sa ibang herb na parang rosemary, ganun din naman. Wala siyang pakla pero napaka-fragrant nung lasa niya.”
As her first step, she also marinates the chicken pieces in soy sauce and pepper and sears them to make sure the meat locks in a savory taste.

Erwan Heussaff's Chicken Tinola
Erwan Heussaff claims that Tinola is his all-time favorite Filipino dish, and he cooks it with half-ripe papaya.
According to Erwan, his choice to include this in his ingredients usually freaks people out.
He describes, “I use this green papaya that's not quite green yet and not quite ripe as well. I like having that nice orange bit right in the middle, just that tiny, tiny bit just 'cause that sweetness will lend itself perfectly to the whole savor of the whole dish.”
He also turns the dish into a feast of greens by adding lemongrass stalks, scallions, malunggay leaves, and chili leaves.

Karla Estrada's Tinolang Isda
Karla Estrada recreates Tinola with yellowfin tuna as her main ingredient. She also cooks this without sayote or papaya.
For her version, Karla prefers eating fish.
She explains, “Pagka-probinsyana ka, sanay kami sa isda dahil laking tabing-dagat kasi kami. At saka iba talaga dinudulot ng isda, 'yung sarap.”
