Manila-based Indonesian celebrity makeup artist Albert Kurniawan is a longtime friend of global fashion icon Heart Evangelista.

Albert is proud of both his enduring friendship and his professional partnership with Heart.

In fact, he did Heart's bridal makeup for her lavish wedding in Balesin in 2015, and returned to do her makeup again for her renewal of vows in 2024.

Albert and Heart first worked together in the magazine show Fashionistas by Heart which ran from 2009 to 2011 and was co-hosted by Jocas de Leon and Schinina Juban.

Prior to that, Albert already met Heart in a chance encounter.

"I met Heart 2007 when I was still a tourist in the Philippines. Fan na fan ako kay Heart dati pa. When I first visited the Philippines kasi, sabi ko sa mga Filipino friends ko, 'Sana makita ko si Heart.' One evening, nagdi-dinner lang kami sa Greenbelt, tapos dumaan siya," he recalled.

He says that he actually manifested meeting and working with Heart.

"Again, I always believe [that] if you want to achieve something, put your eyes on the prize, and then try to say it loud. So I keep on saying it to my friends, 'I will do Heart's makeup. I will do Heart's makeup until it happened," he shared.

It came as a surprise to him too when Heart actually remembered their chance encounter.

"Fast forward to Fashionistas [by Heart], nagulat na lang ako kasi I mentioned that i was Indonesian, I was a tourist, and then naalala pa rin niya kung anong specific restaurant [kami nag-meet]. Parang dini-dream mo lang na isang tao na imi-meet mo lang sana, hanggang na meet mo, tapos idi-dream mo ulit na you want to work with them and nangyari na," Albert explained.

He also remembered how nice Heart was to everybody on set.

"Meet ulit kami, parang magkaibigan lang. Super simple, pumasok sa studio and then she was like talking to everyone. She did not let anybody feel that she's the star," he shared.
