
With the increasing threat of the COVID-19 Delta variant, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced on Friday, July 30 that the government will be placing the National Capital Region under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to August 20.
Health experts have been sounding the alarm for days about the surge of infection rates and imploring the government to take immediate action to arrest the worsening COVID-19 situation.
As of July 29, cases of the novel coronavirus disease according to the Department of Health (DOH) have reached 1,572,287 in the Philippines, 56,273 of which are active cases.
Meanwhile, 27,577 of our kababayans have died from COVID.

The Philippines looks as though it is racing against time, what with the slow roll-out of vaccination.
Available records show from the health department that the country has only fully inoculated 6,089,314 individuals.
