“Nu'ng nasa top 10 ako, alam ko na we have like five crowns there so sabi ko, 'If I will get to top 10, I will somehow win a crown.'” - Chelsea Manalo
Hindi lubos akalain ni Miss Universe 2024 Chelsea Manalo na masusungkit niya ang korona ng isa sa mga pinakaprestihiyosong pageant. Ang tanging naisip lang niya noong makapasok siya sa top 10 ng pageant, “May laban ako.”
Sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda nitong Lunes, May 27, tinanong ng host na si Boy Abunda kung ano ang pakiramdam ni Chelsea nang tawagin siya at nakapasok sa top 10.
Aniya, “Yes po. Nu'ng nasa top 10 ako, alam ko na we have like five crowns there so sabi ko, 'If I will get to top 10, I will somehow win a crown.' Because I know I'm gonna do my best.”
Aminado rin siya na marami siyang kasabay na frontrunners na sa tingin niya ay mas-deserving sa kaniya na makuha ang Miss Universe Philippines crown. Wala sa isip niya noon ang makuha ang korona.
Ngunit nang makaabot siya sa top 5, “I was already eyeing na lang for the Miss Universe crown,” pag-aamin niya.
“Sabi ko, I'm gonna give it my all. When I went out [on] the stage, I'm gonna give it my all. I'm going to smile, and with or without the crown, I have already made history of being a woman of representation.”
Bilang ilang buwan din magkakasama ang mga kandidata, hindi malayong may mabuong pagkakaibigan sa pagitan nila. Para kay Chelsea, ang tinuturing na niyang bestfriend ngayon ay si Miss Iloilo Alexie Mae Brooks.
Ayon kay Chelsea, kahit hindi niya nakasama sa top 5 ang kaibigan, nakatanggap naman siya ng suporta mula rito.
“Actually, when tinawag na po ako sa top 5, I don't know if it was seen but I looked at her and she kind of gave me that smile, nodding her head, 'cause I know that this is not just a victory for me, it's not just a crown for me, it's a crown for every woman, and it's a crown for my best friend Alexie, too,” paliwanag niya.
Nang dalawa na lang sila sa entablado ni Miss Cainta Stacey Gabriel, inamin ni Chelsea na nagdadasal na siya noon at humihingi ng sign na makukuha niya ang korona.
Sabi niya, “I know I came into the competition and I know I wanted Miss Universe. I love Ate Stacy, I was telling her how much I love her, I think that was the conversation, I was telling her while we were holding each other's hands.”
Dagdag pa niya, “We took our time to pray and I told myself, with the crown or without it, I am already a woman of representation and this is me sharing it to the whole Filipino people.”
