
After the Philippines' first-ever Olympic gold win, local celebrities Chris Tiu and Isabelle Daza celebrated Hidilyn Diaz's victory with their congratulatory messages on social media.
The former iBilib host was overjoyed and felt emotional for the triumph of the Olympic gold medalist and posted on his Instagram a video of Hidilyn's winning moment.
He expressed his support and admiration for the Filipino champion through words, “Still emotional and teary-eyed replaying, again and again, that historic winning moment.”
“Oozing with pride and joy right now!!! So so happy for Hidilyn and our country!!”
The former PBA player commended Hidilyn for her determination throughout her athletic journey to victory.
“Relentless work ethic, sacrifice, dedication, purity of heart, belief in yourself and your team, and above all, your unwavering faith in God during trials and triumph!” he continued.
“You truly are an inspiration, idol Hidilyn.”
“Maraming maraming Salamat and congratulations once again!! @hidilyndiaz”
He also posted his photo with the professional weightlifter during the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the 2016 Rio Olympics, where Hidilyn won her first silver medal.

Likewise, former Kapuso Isabelle Daza also felt emotional for Hidilyn's triumph and shared a series of photos of the professional athlete.
She wrote, “#hidilyndiaz just won the Philippines' first ever GOLD MEDAL at the Olympics in Tokyo 2021 at the Women's 55kg weightlifting category.”
“'Lifted a combined weight of 224kgsm, an Olympic record'” she quoted.
“I watched the video and when you dropped the barbell I burst into tears with you!!! Sobrang nakakaproud! Mabuhay ka!!!”
The actress-model also encouraged everyone to continue to show support for Pinoy athletes.
“Sana ipagpatuloy natin ang suporta ng mga Atletang Pinoy. (also we could be distant relatives!)”
Other showbiz figures and known personalities such as Ogie Alcasid, Richard Gomez, Rico Blanco, Dra. Vicki Belo and Pops Fernandez also showered Hidilyn with their supportive and congratulatory posts.
In her Instagram stories, the Zamboanga native posted her first photo with the gold medal and wrote, “Thank you for praying.”

On July 26, Hidilyn Diaz competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and reigned as the gold medalist in the women's 55 kg weightlifting category, where she completed a lift of 224 kilograms.
