Kapuso actor-singer Christian Bautista will be the Philippine representative in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Japan Music Fair which will be held today, November 28, in Shibuya, Tokyo and will be aired live nationwide from the NHK Studio.
Early this year, the Japanese Embassy selected Christian to be the only Filipino singer who will perform in the music festival. The event will be held to celebrate the 40-year friendship of ASEAN and Japan.
According to Christian, it’s his first time to meet the top artists from Asia including Brunei Darussalam’s Zul Faden, Cambodia’s Preab Sovath, Indonesia’s Agnes Monica, Laos’ Annita, Malaysia’s Siti Nurhaliza, Myanmar’s Sai Sai Kham Leng, Singapore’s Olivia Ong, Thailand’s Bird Thongcha, Vietnam’s My Linh, and Japan’s AKB48, W-inds and EXILE.
Christian will perform two solo numbers and a production number with other ASEAN representatives.
In his Twitter account, Christian shared a photo of their welcome dinner yesterday with this caption: “The photo here was from the welcome dinner, held in a Japanese restaurant where world leaders met in 1986. Around me were hand-picked artists from the ASEAN federation sharing a full course Japanese meal. We talked about solidarity, friendship, how we can help each other's countries, and how the music industry can help. It was a night of unity. And tomorrow at the NHK hall we continue to bond through music. Thank you to special ambassador for Japan-ASEAN relationships Ryotaro Sugi for making this night memorable for all of us. Thank you also Sir Keiichi Iwamoto, director of 1st Southeast Asia division of the ministry of foreign affairs."
