It seems that Oscar award-winning actor Cillian Murphy is back! This time, however, he is bringing a role that no one has seen before.
Directed by Danny Boyle and co-written with Alex Garland, the 28 Years Later trailer was released on Tuesday, December 10.
The Oppenheimer star portrayed the lead role of Jim in the 2002 original film 28 Days Later.
Fans rapidly shared their thoughts about the trailer and praised its edge-of-your-seat suspense. The chilling atmosphere and unexpected twists have everyone buzzing.
One user commented, "Gee, the background track with the chant ALONE creeps me the bleep out...and has definitely won me over."
"The trailer is creepy af and had me scared lol," another added.
However, Cillian Murphy's noticeable absence in the trailer has sparked mixed reactions.
"Well, we know what happens to Cillian now, unfortunately," one user said, pointing out the zombified character trudging through the fields.
Fans quickly reacted after the release of the trailer and said that a zombie looked similar to the Irish actor.
In a 2023 interview with The Independent, Cillian Murphy mentioned that he would be interested in returning for the third film.
The trailer has continued to raise questions about the possible twists and zombie evolution of Cillian Murphy.
Cillian Murphy previously appeared in Oppenheimer in 2023. He won an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal in the film as the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who developed the atomic bomb and was haunted by its impact.
28 Years Later is set to release in the US on June 20, 2025.
