Veteran actress Cita Astals reunited with her fellow original cast members of the beloved sitcom Home Along Da Riles during the first advance screening of their reunion film, Home Along Da Riles: Da Reunion, held at the historic Manila Metropolitan Theater in Manila.
Cita recently became a topic of discussion online after appearing on Kay Susan Tayo! Vlogs, where she candidly shared her mental health journey and spoke about living with bipolar disorder. During the interview, the former actress opened up about the challenges she faced through the years and how she has since found peace living a quieter life away from show business.
Meanwhile, the special advance screening brought together several stars from the iconic television series ahead of the movie's nationwide release on June 17.
Among those in attendance were Nova Villa, Dang Cruz, Gio Alvarez, Maybeline Dela Cruz, Cita Astals, Vitto Quizon, Jenny Quizon, and Claudine Barretto, who expressed her gratitude to the City of Manila for hosting the screening of their highly anticipated reunion project.
Originally headlined by the late Comedy King Dolphy, Home Along Da Riles became one of the most popular sitcoms on Philippine television. The series followed the story of Kevin Cosme, the lovable patriarch of a poor but happy family living beside a railway, and became known for its blend of comedy, family values, and relatable stories.
Also present at the premiere were members of the Cosme family from the original cast, including Claudine Barretto as Bing, Vandolph Quizon as Baldo, Boy 2 Quizon as Estong, Smokey Manaloto as Bill, and Gio Alvarez as Bob. They were joined by Maybelyn Dela Cruz as Maybe Madamba, Dang Cruz as Yaya Roxanne, and Nova Villa as Aling Ason.
Speaking during the event, Nova reflected on the enduring impact of the sitcom and the importance of comedy in Filipino culture.
“Ngayon ay ating sariwain ang 13 years na pinasaya tayo ng Cosme family. Sariwang-sariwa pa rin po ang Home Along Da Riles sa mga kwentuhan sa bahay-bahay. Ayan po ang nagagawa ng comedy, kultura ng Pinoy 'yan. Nakakatulong po ang comedy sa atin. Napapagaan natin ang mabibigat na problema at mga hinaing sa buhay,” she said.
The reunion film is expected to bring back the nostalgia and humor that made Home Along Da Riles a household favorite for generations of Filipino viewers.
