On Monday, January 19, many netizens were surprised and quick to react after actress Claudine Barretto shared a nostalgic birthday message on social media for her '90s ex-boyfriend and “first love,” actor Mark Anthony Fernandez.
In the said post, Claudine emphasized that Mark Anthony was her “first” in many ways.
“Belated happy birthday to my first love; my first everything, especially my first heartbreak,” she wrote in the caption.
She also shared that if she could live her life again, she would still choose him as her first love.
“I said this before and I say it again: if I were to live my life all over again, I'd still choose you to be my first,” Claudine said.
The actress noted that while she never expected to stay on good terms with a former partner, Mark Anthony proved to be the exception to her mindset.
“I'm so proud of the man you have become. I never thought I'd ever be friends with my ex, but Mark definitely is the exception,” she said.
“A true gentleman with one of the kindest souls I have ever met,” she added.
In her birthday greeting, Claudine thanked Mark Anthony for the friendship they have maintained, noting that they have remained on good terms long after their split.
“Happy birthday! Thank you for never talking bad about me. In fact, you took all the blame and made sure I was always protected, even from afar,” Claudine wrote.
“I have no regrets, only great memories,” she continued.
Claudine ended her birthday message with a sweet note, along with the hashtag of their love team: “I luv u, EX. #MarkDine.”
Many fans immediately commented and shared their reactions to Claudine's post.
“Ito 'yong mag-ex na after maghiwalay, never nagka-siraan sa isa't isa; no more hatred and blaming of what happened in their past,” a fan wrote.
“Sana all ganyan sa ex,” another commented.
“Reunion movie for these two, pleaseeeeee,” a netizen said.
Before their split in the '90s, Claudine Barretto and Mark Anthony Fernandez were among the most iconic “it” couples of their time.
Known to fans as #MarkDine, their chemistry first ignited in the youth-oriented show Ang TV and in hit movies such as Pare Ko and Mangarap Ka.
