Thinking about transitioning to cloth diapers? Let Kapuso celebrity and mom of two Chynna Ortaleza educate you on the different types of cloth diaper inserts.

There's been a growing interest in cloth diapering as moms not only strive to cut expenses so they can save up for more important things, but also more and more mommies are wanting to reduce waste and help save the environment.

Disposable diapers are made of synthetic materials. Although they are convenient to use, they add up to waste in the environment as they can only be used one time and take around 500 years to decompose once they are dumped in landfills.

Using cloth diapers is certainly the next best alternative to disposable diapers as they are eco-friendly and helps you save money big time.

Cloth diapers have pockets inside them where you can put inserts to help with absorption.

In a recent episode of Mars Pa More, Kapuso celebrity and super mom Chynna Ortaleza talked about three types of inserts that she uses and for which scenario or situation they are best suited for.

Microfiber insert

According to Chynna, microfiber diaper inserts are very absorbent. It is also one of the cheapest cloth diaper insert options. However, they cannot touch your baby's skin as they may potentially cause rashes. So, make sure to always put it inside the cloth diaper pocket, and have another insert outside of the pocket if you can, for an added barrier between your baby's skin and the microfiber insert.

Charcoal insert

The charcoal diaper insert is a personal favorite of Chynna. She said it's safe to place it outside of the cloth diaper pocket or directly next to your baby's skin.

Hemp insert

Chynna recommends the use of hemp cloth diaper inserts for busy days or instances when you won't be able to change your baby's diaper often, such as when he or she is about to sleep at night. Hemp inserts may not be as fast absorbing as other inserts, but they take the longest time to saturate.

As an added tip, Chynna advises parents to rinse or wash the insert right away, if you can.

Also, it's important not to use softeners or detergents on cloth diapers because they weaken its elasticity.
