Babajie


Alfredo Cornejo, a.k.a. Babajie, passed away yesterday, May 4.

Comedian Babajie, whose real name is Alfredo Cornejo, died from tuberculosis and malnutrition on May 4. He was 35.

Babajie's mother confirmed the reports to GMA News.

The mother also added that her son, known for her long chin and self-deprecating jokes on Bubble Gang, had been ill for weeks.

Aside from Bubble Gang, Babajie was also featured on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, when he started posting online his photo with Italian friend, Ciro Tarallo.


In a series of Facebook posts, Ciro mourned the passing of his friend and paid tribute to the comedian.

He wrote, “Goodbye is not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you.”

“Until we meet again.”

Ciro also shared the picture they took the last time they saw each other.

“I never thought that that would be the last time that I will see you,” he wrote.

“Rest in peace, Babajie. You will always be in our hearts.

“I miss you baba.”
