Discussions about children expected to become the primary breadwinners of their families recently sparked conflicting opinions online. Some believe that they should support their parents or share their resources with them, while others argue that it should be up to the children whether and how much they choose to contribute.
As this topic continued to trend online, several famous personalities weighed in with their perspectives. One of them was content creator Mama LuLu, known for her mother-and-child skits with his son, Olly.
In a recent video, the social media personality expressed her disagreement with the idea that children are obligated to become breadwinners after college.
She further emphasized, "Hindi obligasyon ng anak iyon. Sabi ba nila,'Sige iire mo ako'? Pinapanganak na lang," she explained.
Mama LuLu also highlighted the importance of children pursuing their own dreams and plans. As parents, she believes it is their responsibility to support and guide their children in achieving their goals, rather than imposing their own desires on them.
Meanwhile, the content creator shared how grateful she is that her children choose to support her. But she clarified that she never demanded it and it was entirely their choice.
(I am fortunate that my children choose to support me, but I never forced them to do so).
She also acknowledged the difficult reality faced by many, noting that some parents rely on their children due to inadequate government services.
In conclusion, Mama LuLu expressed gratitude for her family's migration to the USA. But she also pointed out that life remains challenging in the States as it continues to be a "survival of the fittest."
