Fans were shocked to learn that influencers Richmond Tabangcura and Deo Cabrera have officially broken up.
Richmond confirmed the news on Instagram through a heartfelt post, sharing a series of photos alongside a long message on their sudden split.
"I've been quiet for the past few weeks about us, taking time to process everything. While I know I don't owe anyone an explanation, most of you have been part of our journey and witnessed the love I shared with my ex-partner," Richmond wrote.
"Yes, we broke up because of repeated acts of betrayal. Finding out all at once that my trust had been broken in many ways I couldn't imagine was truly devastating."
The content creator further expressed his heartbreak over the repeated betrayals and emotional pain he experienced during the relationship.
"This burdened me for weeks, and it hurts because I gave my clear and pure intentions, I gave it all out. Sinama ko siya sa pangarap ko, and I was ready to spend a lifetime with them. But I thought what we had was something real; I thought our love was meant to break stereotypes; And I thought our love would grow despite distance," he shared..
"But they made me realize how ugly the current dating scene is, how ugly the community can be, and how painful it is when you show your clear and pure intentions to someone."
Richmond also reflected on cheating, emphasizing that betrayal can happen in any relationship, regardless of gender.
"This made me realize that regardless of gender, status, or educational background, breaking your partner's trust always is a choice. One incident might sound as “just a mistake,” but when it is repeated constantly, it is enough to say that it is part of someone's character and a conscious choice repeatedly done. This also made me feel unsafe and fearful for my health. While I continue to believe that clothes are genderless, I've also learned that cheating is genderless too."
Despite choosing to forgive his former partner, Richmond shared that he ultimately decided to leave the relationship after attempts to make things work.
Still, he expressed goodwill towards Deo.
"To my ex-partner, as we heal and move forward with this, please always remember I cherished all the moments we shared together. I hope you'll also be patient with yourself and to the things going on through your life. Continue to be the best version of yourself for yourself," he said.
Richmond ended his message by asking fans to respect the boundaries between him and his ex-partner as he begins a new chapter in his life.
In response to Richmond's post, Deo addressed the issue through an Instagram Story.
"I understand why people are upset, and I don't take that lightly. I was wrong, and I know that. I'm taking time to reflect and process this privately and responsibly," the influencer said.
"While I do so, I ask for space and boundaries. Harassment, threats, and hate directed at anyone are never okay. That is all I will share at this time."
The former couple met online, as Deo had seen Richmond on social media. After sharing a cheeky comment, the two linked up despite the distance that separated them at the time. "Talagang 'for me' sya," Deo quips.
The two shared kilig moments online and in public, making them one of the iconic queer couples in the community.
