Kris Aquino recalls what her late mom Cory Aquino told her when she entertained the idea of running for senator: 'You cannot share the stage with 23 others.'

The Queen of All Media Kris Aquino revealed an advice of her late mom former President Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino to her if ever she decide to enter politics.

During her one-on-on interview with veteran showbiz reporter Cristy Fermin in her radio program Cristy FerMinute this Thursday afternoon, the younger Aquino said that her mother already knew why she cannot and will not run for a seat in the senate. Cory said that her youngest daughter is not the type who can share the stage with 23 others.

Kris explained, “Hindi po ako puwede mag-senado, because sinabi ng mom ko sa akin at bilang bago ako natulog, nahimasmasan ako, naalala ko. ‘Krissy you don’t belong.’ Sabi niya dun daw.”

“’Sabi ko why? Because you’re used to being the star [laughs]’. Sabi niya you cannot share the stage with 23 others… Ang mangyayari daw dun, 23 others will just hate you every single day of their lives.”

When the late icon of democracy was diagnosed with cancer of the colon in March 2008, Cory made her youngest daughter promise her one thing: that if ever she decides to run for public office, she must first make a big sacrifice.

Kris recalled, “If you will ever decide to go into politics that will be when you’re no longer interested in branded things. Pag ayaw mo ng anything luxurious.”

But one can’t help but wonder, what if she did run for senator and win? The younger Aquino discussed during the interview as well the different things she will advocate if ever she finds herself holding office in the senate.

“If ever the time does come you will know what you're getting. At least ito walang bahong 'tinago, lahat klaro. You know who I am and you know what you would get.

Speaking directly to Cristy, whom she calls Nanay, Kris added, "But ito lang ang plataporma ko. If ever, Nay, I have been honest in paying my taxes, so why will I ever steal from you?

"I have been creating jobs, so I will make sure to create more jobs. I am a mother, so I will take care of making sure that healthcare, universal healthcare not just Philhealth, but universal healthcare will be covered 100 percent, most especially for senior citizens.”

President Cory Aquino died of cardiorespiratory arrest on August 1, 2009.
