Here's the latest report of the Department of Health (DOH) about the rising COVID-19 infections in the Philippines.

The Philippines recorded more than 12,000 new cases of COVID-19 today, April 9, on the Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan).

Based on the figures released by the Department of Health (DOH), the positivity rate rose to 21.4% from yesterday's 20.2%.

Although 946 people recovered from the highly-contagious disease this Friday, 401 of our kababayans perished from it.

As it now stands, the nation has recorded a total number of 840,554 cases, with 647,683 recoveries and 14,520 deaths.

Celebrities were not spared

This week alone, several celebrities admitted that they contracted the virus.

Among them were Kapuso celebrities Rhian Ramos and Glaiza de Castro, who have already recovered.

Glaiza, who was asymptomatic, shared some helpful tips to people during her interview with 24 Oras yesterday, April 8.

She said, "Kahit na wala kang nararamdaman o ang result mo ay nag-postive ka [at wala kang nararamdaman], you really have to monitor yourself and stay at home."

Meanwhile, The Lost Recipe actor Ahron Villena shared his bout with COVID-19 during an online interview with entertainment portal PEP.Ph.

The actor-model told PEP, “Nag-two weeks akong nag-quarantine dito sa bahay and for safety din, siyempre ako and sa ibang mga kaibigan ko, siyempre ayaw ko sila mahawa or something di ba.”

“But ganoon pala 'yung feeling kapag nag-positive ka, parang lahat yung mga symptoms totoo pala 'yun. Kasi sabi ko, 'wala ano lang 'to, trangkaso lang.'
