Cristine Reyes

Cristine Reyes recalled how her troubled past marriage affected her work and personal life.

Actress Cristine Reyes looked back on one of the most difficult chapters of her life during her guest appearance on The Sexytime Podcast, revealing how her past marriage deeply affected her while taping the hit drama Tubig at Langis.

At the time, Cristine had just given birth to her daughter Amarah, making the period even more emotionally challenging. Despite appearing happy on social media, she admitted that her reality behind the scenes was far from it.

“That time na pinagtatakpan ko pa eh, na hindi kami okay pero nagpo-post ako na parang happy family pero 'yung totoo hindi siya talaga umuuwi sa bahay. Pumupunta siya sa mga casino tapos meron silang mga girls na kasama, parang tini-table. Kasi meron daw mga clients daw, mga Koreans. Nilabas ko talaga sa kanya, sorry,” she shared.

Furthermore, Cristine revealed that she kept her struggles private for a long time due to outside pressure.

“Hindi ko ito in-open sa lahat kasi at that time sinasabihan ako na hindi ko dapat kinikwento 'yun pero ngayon, kailangan ko siya ilabas,” she said.

As the issues persisted, Cristine reached a breaking point, recalling a moment that made her reevaluate everything.

“Ito talaga 'yung worst ha, sinong matinong tao ang makakalimot ng wedding anniversary niyo?” she said, adding that she prayed for a sign before deciding what to do next.

“Doon talaga ako nag-pray na kapag wala talaga siyang ginawa, ayaw ko na.”

Eventually, that moment came. According to Cristine, the lack of effort from her partner solidified her decision to end the relationship.

“Naisip ko siguro noong nag-pray ako na kung sa wedding anniversary namin wala siyang ginawa, flowers man lang or anything, dinner… Nakipaghiwalay ako sa kanya, sabi ko, 'Tanungin mo sa sarili mo, for five years na magkasama tayo, did you ever ask me out on a date?'”

In addition, the actress also disclosed experiencing deeply troubling moments in the relationship.

“May time na talagang nag-force pa siya, as in forced. Ang daming beses [ko] na pinalampas,” she revealed.

Despite her strong public image, Cristine admitted that she struggled internally.

“Kasi sino maniniwala, 'Ikaw si Cristine Reyes, matapang ka eh.'”

Looking back, Cristine acknowledged her own role in allowing certain behaviors to continue.

“Fault ko rin naman kasi hinayaan ko 'yun. Wala siyang masagot. Nagpakasal ako kasi natatakot ako sa society na huhusgahan nila ako.”

Ultimately, Cristine shared that distancing herself from her family also made things harder, but it was them who helped her recover when everything fell apart.

“Lumayo kasi ako sa family ko eh, ang advice ko is stick with your family kasi sila 'yung sasalo sa'yo eh. Kasi nung naghiwalay noong nangyari 'yun, sila 'yung nandiyan.”

Cristine Reyes is currently dating childhood friend Gio Tiongson, she has a daughter, Amarah, from her past marriage.
