Following the recent declaration of public health emergency, as well as the suspension of all public events due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat in the country, organizers of Daang Dokyu Film Festivals postponed its event scheduled for March 16 to 21, 2020.

The news was announced in an Instagram post published on March 10.

It said, “The Daang Dokyu team would like to thank all of you for the excitement you have shown over the past days and weeks leading up to the festival. We're just as eager, but your health, safety, and well-being are our priority.

“Following the recent declaration of a state of public health emergency, as well as the suspension of all public events at the UP Film Center, we have decided to postpone Daang Dokyu initially scheduled for March 16-21 to a later date this year.”

The team also vowed to continue the festival and its entire line-up of films and events once the health crisis is over.

“With every aspect of the festival almost ready, and with so much support from the film community and the public, this has been a very difficult decision for all of us.

“We are committed to continue with the festival and its entire line-up of films and events.

“When this health crisis is over and with your continued support, we promise to return even stronger,” it added.

Meanwhile, the group also said that booked tickets will still be accepted on the rescheduled date.

They are also welcome to take refund requests.

“To our valued audience who booked tickets in advance, we shall honor your tickets on the rescheduled festival days. In the meantime, we are sending you a gift as a gesture of gratitude.

“On the other hand, if you'd like to claim a refund, please email info@daangdokyu.ph to receive instructions.

Rest assured that we fully understand your concerns and we will assist you in the process,” it said.

Daang Dokyu is the “first documentary film festival about the Philippines. It celebrates the greatest documentaries for film and television as well as discover hidden films from different regions.”

The festival is initially slated from March 16 to 21, 2020 at Cine Adarna at the University of the Philippines.
