Television personality and endorser Valerie Weigmann is the new Miss World 2014 Philippines.
An apparent crowd and judges favorite, the former Eat Bulaga host bagged several other special awards namely Miss Camarines Sur, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Fashion Runway, Best in Long Gown, Miss Solaire, Miss Figlia, Jessi Mendez Salon Ambassador, Miss Reducin, Miss Blue Water Day Spa, Miss Bench, Miss Olay and Miss Hana.
Lorraine Kendrickson, meanwhile was crowned First Princess, Nelda Ibe, the Second Princess, Kapuso artist Nicole Donesa, the Third Princess, and Rachel Louise Peters, the Fourth Princess.
During the question and answer portion wherein the five semifinalists were asked why they should be given the crown, Valerie shared the values that she espouses.
"I try to live my life in relation to others by putting myself in other people's shoes. I believe in the importance of empathy and compassion because I see that if all of us can come together as one, we can all be advocates of change," she said.
The new Miss World 2014 Philippines also urged everyone to embrace noble causes of their own.
"I want to inspire and encourage everyone to have a personal advocacy such as my own like enabling the indigenous brothers and sisters from Tarlac because I believe that it is truly in giving that makes us beautiful," she declared.
Among many other prizes, the newly-crowned queen brought home one million pesos and will represent the country in the Miss World pageant to be held in London, England in December.
The board of judges includes MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino, District Representative of Pasig Roman Romulo, President of GMA Films and GMA Worldwide Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar, and Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.
The
coronation night, held last October 12 in the SM Mall of Asia Arena was hosted by Mikael Daez, Janine Gutierrez, Tim Yap and Gwendoline Ruais.
It also featured performances by Frencheska Farr, Julie Anne San Jose, Maricris Garcia, Jonalyn Viray, Julian Trono, Jeric Gonzalez and the AFP Chorale.
