Rob Kenney is the Internet Dad netizens didn't know they needed until now.

It's not yet Father's Day but one dad from the United States named Rob Kenney is already having his day in the sun, after starting a YouTube channel called 'Dad, How Do I?'.

In an interview, Rob told local TV station WCIU that his own experience of coming from a broken family inspired him to create such channel.

Rob said, “I came from a fractured home. My goal in life is to raise good adults. So then when I got to early 50s, I felt like I've done that. Now what?”

The light bulb moment

In his 'Thank You' video, Rob said that prior to starting his YouTube channel he's been constantly teaching his adult children not just how to fix things around the house, but mostly 'adulting'.

Because of this, he thought there might be a need for some practical 'dadvice' content online.

Rob pointed out though that he doesn't think he has 'cornered the market on fixing things'.

“There are certain ways, certain things that people might do it differently-that's fine.

"But if you don't have a way, maybe you can use me as a resource to figure things out.

“I'm hoping that my channel is just a way to empower people, to see if you can try to figure it out yourself 'cause some of these tasks aren't as hard as maybe we're led to believe. So, hopefully, my channel helps you with that.”

Overwhelming response

As of writing, the 'Dad, how do I?' channel already has 1.18 million subscribers.

And in Rob's latest video uploaded yesterday- which is his 'Thank You' video-he mentioned that his subscribers have grown to over 400,000, meaning he's gained more than 700,000 subscribers in a day.

The response to Rob's channel has indeed been overwhelming.

Although people primarily watches his 'how to' videos to get instructions and useful tips, his content also seems to have a strong emotional impact to his audience.

In his interview with WCIU, Rob revealed, “People that don't have fathers, or didn't have a relationship with their father, or have lost their father said that they've watched my videos in tears just being reminded of missing their dad.”

Message to other dads

Rob has been getting so much positive feedbacks lately and is even hailed by some as 'the perfect father'.

But he refuted this claim and said that he's just as human as the next dad.

Rob confessed, “I didn't always do everything right with my kids.”

He then added, “You're gonna fail as a dad. That's part of the human experience. You aren't gonna always do things right.”

“So, I think it's important to ask for forgiveness and not pretend that you've had it all figured out.

"'Cause your kids are gonna find out sooner or later that you don't have it figured out when they grow up, right?”
