Comedian Dagul is hoping to get back to work as he continues his recovery following a series of health issues that led to multiple hospitalizations last year.
In a recent guest appearance on Kay Susan Tayo! Vlogs, Dagul, whose real name is Romeo "Romy" Queddeng Pastrana, shared that he was repeatedly admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia and sleep apnea. He also revealed that doctors continue to monitor his kidneys.
Now using a wheelchair, Dagul said his condition has made it difficult for him to move around.
He recalled that he was still able to tape TV shows when his health was better, but his weakened knees and weight now prevent him from walking long distances.
The comedian also revealed that doctors previously found fluid in his lungs, although he said it has since cleared and is now under observation.
Aside from his respiratory condition, Dagul is also dealing with cataracts in his left eye. However, he has yet to undergo surgery because doctors are closely monitoring his heart and require him to complete several medical tests. Financial constraints have also delayed the procedure.
Dagul admitted he is also worried about undergoing anesthesia, fearing that his body may not be able to withstand a lengthy operation.
Currently recovering at home, Dagul spends most of his days alone whenever his wife and children are out working or attending school. His wife, Aljen, assists him with daily tasks, while their third child helps carry him when needed. When no one is around, he said he simply endures the situation, relying on a bedside commode when necessary.
Despite the challenges, Dagul remains hopeful that he can work again.
"I want to have a job again," he said, adding that he continues to pray for opportunities that would help provide for his family.
Dagul rose to fame through the comedy sitcom Kool Ka Lang and later became a mainstay on the children's sketch comedy program Goin' Bulilit.
