Danica Sotto shares her one of her life's greatest lessons after her parents' marriage failed.
Danica Sotto shares words of encouragement to kids from broken families.
In a recent heartfelt Facebook post, Danica reminded children that the world does not end even if parents' marriages fail.
The celebrity mom, who is the eldest child of ex-couple Vic Sotto and Din based her wisdom-filled message on her personal life experience growing up having separated parents. Her post was accompanied by stitched photos from her wedding showing her emotional moment with dad Vic Sotto and mom Dina Bonnevie as they walked her down the aisle.
She wrote, “To the children of separated parents… You are not doomed to repeat the mistakes of your parents. You will find love and you have love kasi you learned from what they did wrong.
"Marriage lang nila ang nag end pero ikaw hindi… you are not broken.
"Ask God to help and guide you. Kasi if we genuinely experience and understand God's love. You won't need to prove yourself to other people. You know na buo ka kasi HE fills in the gaps. Yung di kayang punuin ng mga tao lang.”
Danica's parents married in 1982 and were blessed with two kids, Danica in 1983 and Oyo Boy in 1984. However, their marriage did not last long as they decided to part ways in 1986. Their marriage was officially annulled in 1992.
In past interviews, Dina had candidly opened about grieving her failed marriage to Vic. In the years leading to their separation, the veteran actress cited a third party as among the reasons for their split. Years later however, she and Vic eventually continued to be good friends and parents to their children.
Dina eventually remarried. After Vic, she became the wife of former senatorial aspirant Ricardo Penson, which lasted short over the actress' claims of physical abuse.
Now she is happily married to her third husband, politician Deogracias Victor Savellano.
Meanwhile, Vic had a string of high profile relationships after Dina. His romance with actress Coney Reyes bore a son, now Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and a daughter Paulina Sotto with former actress Angela Luz.
The comedian is now married to actress-TV host Pauleen Luna-Sotto with whom he has a daughter, Talitha.
