Davao Conyo Phillip Hernandez

Phillip Hernandez, a.k.a. 'Davao Conyo,' didn't back down from his bashers after he posted his comments about the president.

A different Phillip Hernandez, also known as “Davao Conyo,” was seen on Twitter late yesterday evening after he shared his thoughts about President Rodrigo Duterte's speech on the social media platform.

On Twitter, Phillip expressed his disappointment when the incumbent president didn't share his concrete plans in alleviating the food distribution amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He wrote, “How can one quickly come up with solutions to control the crowd through violence but skip the part na i-explain ang mga plano kung paano ma-e-encourage ang mga tao to stay at home na hindi nagugutom.”

The content creator then received a tirade of comments from his followers saying that he should understand where the President is coming from.

A netizen replied, “He was just reiterating that there should be order in the society especially in these trying times.

“If we let people gather around, the possibility of the virus outbreak would be high and we cannot afford that to happen given that we have limited resources.”

To which Phillip remarked, “But it's counterintuitive. Bakit ka dederecho sa kung paano mo papaluin ang bata kung 'di mo naman inisip muna kung bakit niya nagawa ang kasalanan 'di ba? Nakakatakot lang ang ganung mindset na sa violence agad kumakapit.”

The two were referring to the video circulating online involving 21 residents of Sitio San Roque in Quezon City, who were arrested by cops after staging a protest to demand help amid the government's lockdown that attempts to prevent the virus.

The Quezon City government has since then denied these allegations stating that there is “continuous distribution of food packs throughout the city, both from the government and the barangays to ensure that affected families are looked after during this period.”

Furthermore, Phillip shared his view that the President should show concrete plans to ease the public's concerns.

He replied to a netizen, “I understand that we should all cooperate but how can we without proper, reasonable, and transparent directives? Ilang days na tayo sa quarantine wala pa ring plano.

Because of his comments, a netizen sent a private message to Phillip asking him to remove the word “Davao” in his username.

It read, “I hope you remove 'Davao' from your Twitter name or anywhere else. Conyo na lang, please. You don't represent us.”

To which he simply replied, “Never.”

According to the young influencer, he created his page to send good vibes to his fans but nowadays he finds it difficult to see the silver lining in the current situation.

He concluded, “I admit that I try my best not to touch base on politics because it defeats my main purpose of creating a space to release light and good vibes content.

“Pero with where we are right now, I can't even produce content dahil mahirap na maging masaya sa bansang 'to dahil sa gobyerno.”

Aside from Davao Conyo, several celebrities have also reacted after President Rodrigo Duterte's address on Wednesday night.
