Korean singer Dawn admits he still loves ex-fiancee HyunA
Korean musician Dawn recently opened up about his past relationship with K-pop star HyunA.
On April 14, Dawn appeared on the 1theK originals Look Me Up and addressed the rumors circulating about his friendship with HyunA after their breakup in November 2022.
Dawn shared, "We will support each other no matter what kind of choice is made. Even now and at that time, I wanted to fully respect her choice and support her by pressing 'Like' (on the Instagram post announcing their breakup)."
He continued to say, "We broke up but I will do the same thing if the same thing happens now."
The interviewer asked, "Do you still love her?" and Dawn answered, "I'm the same actually. Whether I break up with HyunA or get back with her, it doesn't matter what we are, I just love HyunA as a person. So, even if we take totally different paths and end up with other people in the future, I'll still be in love with HyunA."
Dawn also discussed his past engagement to HyunA in February 2022 and clarified that it was a misunderstanding. He explained, "We were not planning to get married or anything. I didn't propose to her to get married. It was just because I like her so much. Of course, I had the idea that she would be the person I marry if I get married in the future but at that time, I just wanted to give her a ring. I just wanted to. Common sense is that if you give someone a ring, you're engaged, it's natural. But I'm actually lacking common sense."
He also added the reason why they didn't refute the articles saying they were getting married. He explained, "I thought marriage was a later matter and I thought it'd be awkward to say 'I'm not getting married (in response to the articles)."
Dawn and HyunA started dating publicly in 2016. They were rumored to be engaged in February 2022, and broke up in November of the same year, but remain good friends.
During Dawn's recent release of his single "Dear My Light," HyunA shared her support and wished him well in a social media post.
