Dennis Trillo is in 'proud dad' mode as his eldest son, 18-year-old freshman Calix Ho, secured a gold medal at the Men's Epee individual category of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 fencing tournament. He represented the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons.
In a Facebook reel posted on Friday, March 13, the Kapuso Drama King is seen cheering with pride as Calix defeated De La Salle University's Edan Ensamtan with a score of 15-12 during the finals, successfully keeping the épée crown in Diliman.
Dennis wrote in the caption, "You deserve this…you made us all proud, congrats champ, we love you".
The victory wasn't just a win for the university, but a heartwarming moment for one of local showbiz's most admired modern families. Dennis was spotted cheering from the stands alongside his wife, Jennylyn Mercado, and Calix's mother, Carlene Aguilar.
On Sunday, March 15, Calix is also set to compete in the team category of the UAAP Season 88 fencing tournament, alongside his fellow varsity players from UP.
