Dennis Trillo's son, Calix Andreas Ho, was recognized as Rookie of the Year in men's fencing competition.
Dennis Trillo's son, Calix Andreas Ho, is still on cloud nine after being named Rookie of the Year.
The 18-year-old freshman from the University of the Philippines (UP) earned the title in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 Men's Fencing competition.
In an Instagram video uploaded by the UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development, Calix shared that it was something he hadn't expected.
He said, "It feels amazing kasi parang six months ago, I've only dreamed of stepping onto a UAAP piste. But now I'm suddenly Rookie of the Year, so it feels amazing talaga."
In the recently concluded UAAP fencing tournament, Calix won gold in the Men's Epee individual category. He and his teammates on the UP fencing team also won silver in the team category.
When asked about his future plans, Calix expressed his desire to capture gold alongside his teammates next season. He said, "Of course, [the] job's not finished. We have to continue working hard and achieve that team gold medal that we didn't achieve this season."
Meanwhile, Calix offered advice to aspiring rookies, saying, “Keep working hard. Don't give up, and always pray to God and praise God."
Calix is Dennis's son with his former girlfriend, Carlene Aguilar.
