Bumista sa Pilipinas ang kontrabida sa Descendants of the Sun na si David Lee Mcinnis. Si David ay ginampanan si Captain Argus, isa sa mga naging hadlang sa pagmamahalan nina Captain Lucas Yoo (Song Joong Ki) at Dra. Maxine Kang (Song Hye Kyo.) Magkaaway man off-screen, in real life naman daw ay friends sila ng lead actor na si Song Joong Ki.

Naikuwento rin ni David sa report ni Aubrey Carampel para sa 24 Oras ang isa sa mga memorable na eksena para sa kanya sa Descendants of the Sun. Aniya, "[The] kidnap [scene was memorable.] That was kind of... it's a very mentally and physically draining scene."

Dagdag pa niya, nagulat daw siya sa wedding announcement nina Song Joong Ki at Song Hye Kyo. Kwento pa niya, "He (Song Joong Ki) kept everything as such a secret. I'm super excited for them. I've known both of them on different levels. I mean, you know, they're like a power couple. And they're very sweet people."
