The lead star of Descendants of the Sun, Song Joong-ki bagged the Outstanding Actor Award at the Seoul Drama Awards 2016. The Outstanding Actress Award was given to the Oh My Venus lead star, Shin Min-ah.
During Joong-ki's speech, the actor gushed: “I feel like it’s been a long time since I’ve said hi. I’m filming a movie [titled Battleship Island] right now so I haven’t been able to come out much, but I’m glad to be here. Thank you.”
The drama, Descendants of the Sun, was also named “Excellent Korean Drama” of 2016.
