Dingdong's character is torn between a former flame and a new love, who happen to be his past and present leading ladies in real life. How do the two compare?
Dingdong Dantes' character in GMA Films' "One True Love" is torn between a former flame and a current love, and incidentally, he is paired with his past and present leading ladies. How is it like to have the best of both worlds? Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. Playing Migs He is Migs in the story, a 28-year old neurologist who gets into an accident and develops lacunar amnesia, a type of memory loss that blocks off time periods. In effect, Migs regresses to three years in the past, and forgets about everything in his present, Joy (Marian Rivera ) included. To him, Bela (Iza Calzado ) is his love, and as an ex who returned to the country to win Migs back, Bela takes advantage of his condition. starsDingdong shares, "Yung role ni Iza, is kungbaga my longtime girlfriend—parang kababata. So yung warmth and trato ko sa kanya, more of mas malalim. Two different things talaga, kaya makikita niyo yung difference onscreen." Dance, Dingdong, dance! He will have a total of three love scenes in the movie: two with Marian, and one with Iza. The actor admits that one particular love scene proved to be the most difficult for him. So what exactly did he have to do? He reveals that he had to do a little dance prior to the actual lovemaking! He adds, "It shows a different side of me na hindi naman naipapakita sa TV o pelikula. So mahirap siya." How would he describe the love scene with each leading lady? "Yung kay Iza, yung description ko, as my long-term girlfriend sa istorya, mayroon doong pananabik—more intense, and then the other one, [kay Marian] more on may familiarity sa isa't-isa." Mind over heart? His character's dilemma is ultimately resolved by the saying, "The heart remembers what the mind forgets." Does he believe in having "One True Love?" "Well, iba't-ibang antas yan," he replies. That will always be there." We were talking about romantic, not platonic love, of course. "I'll say someone who will always inspire," he starts off. Is he inspired? "Yes, I am inspired, still. Hindi siya nabago." One True Love will be released on November 19 at a theater near you!
