Multi-awarded actor and host Dingdong Dantes has once again called for vigilance against the spread of misinformation, disinformation, and AI‑generated fake content, emphasizing the importance of responsible consumption of online material.
According to Merriam-Webster, disinformation refers to false information deliberately spread to manipulate public opinion or obscure the truth, while misinformation is simply incorrect or misleading information.
Last week, Dingdong immediately acted and released a statement on Facebook, after a certain social media page allegedly released a political statement that the Kapuso actor vehemently denies.

He reiterated this stance in another Facebook post, reminding the public to be discerning in the age of rapid digital sharing.
“Nawa'y maging mas mapanuri po tayong lahat, lalo na sa misinformation at disinformation… at sa bawat diskurso, piliin sana natin ang respeto sa kapwa Pilipino. Peace!”
In an exclusive interview with 24 Oras during the induction ceremony of the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), Dingdong was asked how he felt about the misleading post.

“Kung ano 'yun, I just clarified it. So, it is what it is,” the Family Feud host said.
Dingdong also raised a more alarming concern—the proliferation of AI-manipulated videos and fake ads using the likenesses of celebrities to endorse products without permission.
"Mas malala pa doon e. Marami ang nagpapadala sa akin ng mga fake galing Facebook na nagbebenta ng produkto gamit ang mga mukha namin.
“So, tinatanong ako legit ba to, kasi 'pag pinanood mo parang kami 'yung nagsasalita, kami 'yung nasa video. So, talagang nakakatakot.”
He warned viewers to be critical and verify content before believing or sharing it, stressing that AI tools can now convincingly replicate faces, voices, and speech patterns.
