Highly respected actor and host Dingdong Dantes has found the perfect collaborator for his newest GMA Prime series, The Master Cutter, in brilliant TV director Dominic Zapata.

Their partnership has spanned more than two decades, beginning with the '90s youth-oriented weekly show T.G.I.S. (1995 to 1999).

In a sit-down interview with GMANetwork.com, the award-winning actor showered Direk Dominic with praise. He also pointed out that working with him fueled his “deep love” for what they do on television.

“Si Direk Dom, kasama ko pa siya noong show ko sa GMA na T.G.I.S., so first directorial niya yata iyon—full-length TV show na siya ang main director—and iyon din ang first TV show ko.

“So magmula noon, magkasama na kami, at masaya ako na siya rin ang naging mentor ko noon, hindi lang sa pag-arte kundi pati sa pagdi-direct. Nagkaroon kami ng deeper love sa ginagawa namin dito sa TV dahil kay Direk Dom.”

Both Dingdong and Direk Dominic have continued to create TV magic by working together on several iconic shows like Alyas Robin Hood, the Pinoy adaptation of the K-drama series Descendants of the Sun, and Royal Blood in 2023.

“Halos lahat ng significant shows ko sa GMA were under him, and now we are working together in The Master Cutter. Kahit ilang dekada na ang lumipas, ganoon pa rin talaga ang samahan namin. At higit sa lahat, ganoon din ang inspirasyon na ibinibigay niya sa amin mga artista sa set—para siyang kuya ng lahat.”

The Master Cutter, which is set to air this coming May, boasts a stellar cast, including Max Collins, PBB housemates Shuvee Etrata and Charlie Fleming. Also part of the GMA Prime show are Jo Berry, Sienna Stevens, Paolo Contis, and many more.
