Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes became emotional after watching Firefly for the first time at the Manila International Film Festival in California.
Dingdong, who was part of the film as the adult version of Euwenn Mikaell's character Tonton, admitted that he cried while watching Firefly, which won the Best Picture award at the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival.
"[I cried] not just a little bit. Yeah, from middle 'til the end. Medyo kailangan ng konting oras to process, especially the ending, kahit alam ko na 'yung kuwento," he said in a video posted on GMA Pictures' official Instagram account.
"It's my first time to see the film, it's such a beautiful film. Grabe, nakakaantig ng puso. It brings back so many childhood memories and is such an inspiring film."
During the question-and-answer that followed the screening of the movie, Dingdong said that he now knows why Firefly won the highly-coveted Best Picture award.
In his personal Instagram account, Dingdong congratulated everyone who made Firefly.
He wrote in the caption, "I was finally able to watch Firefly here in Hollywood for the first-ever Manila International Film Festival. Congratulations to everyone behind this beautiful film!"
Aside from winning the Best Picture award, Firefly also won Best Screenplay for GMA Public Affairs Assistant Vice President Angeli Atienza and Best Child Performer for Euwenn Mikaell.
