Dingdong Dantes went sentimental as Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) finished taping on Thursday, September 10.
In his Instagram post, the Kapuso Primetime King shared a photo showing he's script reading with Jennylyn Mercado for their last scene.
According to the caption, Dingdong developed mad respect for his leading lady because of her stellar portrayal of Dr. Maxine Dela Cruz in the Kapuso series.
He said, "A snappy salute to @mercadojenny for such an excellent and effective performance!"
In a separate post, Dingdong made a symbolic farewell to his combat boots that he's been wearing for almost a year to give life to Capt. Lucas Manalo, or commonly known as Big Boss.
As he bade goodbye to his character, Dingdong shared that he's ready to embark on a new journey.
He said, "Been wearing these boots for almost a year now to give life to Capt. Lucas Manalo. Now, it is time to loosen these laces to make way for the next journey. Mission accomplished!"
It was during Dingdong's contract renewal with GMA Network in April 2019 when he announced that he's going to play the iconic role of Capt. Lucas in the local adaptation of Korean drama series Descendants of the Sun.
He and the other cast members, who comprised the Alpha Team, went through an intensive military training course to prepare them for their roles as soldiers.
Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) premiered on February 10 on GMA Telebabad.
After a month of airing, the series went on temporary break as the production was suspended due to COVID-19 quarantine.
The series is set to return on television later this year.
