GMA’s man of the hour Dingdong Dantes inked a five-year exclusive contract with GMA Network, ending speculations of a network transfer.

The contract signing was held on September 14 at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City. Present at the event were GMA executives Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, Chairman and CEO; Mr. Gilberto Duavit Jr., President and Chief Operating Office; Mr. Felipe S. Yalong, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; Ms. Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Officer in Charge of Entertainment and Mr. Perry Lansigan, manager of Dingdong Dantes.

Also joining them were Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar, President, GMA Films; Mr. Jose Mari Abacan, VP for Program Management; Ms. Redgie Acuna-Magno, VP for Drama; Ms. Gigi Santiago-Lara, AVP for Alternative Productions and Ms. Regie C. Bautista, VP for Program Support.
In the audio-visual presentation during the program, Dantes expressed his gratitude to the network.
He stated, “I am very grateful for the trust and support that GMA has given me. Throughout the years, I have been blessed with projects that have honed me as a dancer, a host, an actor, and even as a director.”
“Dahil nga siguro Kapuso, parang alam na nila lahat ng nilalaman ng aking puso, and I know that GMA will always be there to support me as I move forward in my career. Marami pa akong gustong gawin and I look forward to fulfilling them bilang Kapuso. I am and have always been proud to be a Kapuso. I will carry on,” said Dantes.
Dantes has been with the network for 15 years. He got his first big break when he took on the role of Inaki Torres in the teen-oriented show, T.G.I.S. Since then, he has starred in numerous GMA Primetime shows such as Encantadia, Etheria, Atlantika, Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang, Endless Love, My Beloved and Pahiram ng Sandali.
For his countless achievements, the talented leading man has been named as the Kapuso Primetime King.
“Kinokonsider ko po siya na isang biyaya, isang gift, tulad siguro ng kahit sino sa atin na makatanggap ng isang regalo, we will be grateful, kaya iyan ang isa mga dahilan kaya I’m very grateful this morning because of that,” he stated.
He emphasized, “Mas importante siguro diyan kung ano ang mangyayari after, kaya nadito po ako renewing my commitment to the network, and siguro, mas masusuklian ko pa ‘yan ng mas maigi sa aking dedication sa aking trabaho.”
The award-winning actor will be leading the cast of the upcoming GMA Primetime series, Genesis, where he will be playing the role of Isaak.
Describing the series, he said, “It’s a story about pagmamahal sa kapwa, pagmamahal sa pamilya at pagmamahal sa bayan. It’s a story about hope sa kabila ng mga bagay na nangyayari sa paligid mo. Sa katotohanan, isa siyang konsepto that deals with day-to-day reality: lahat ng nangyayri sa mundo, lahat ng nangyayari sa mundo.”
He also elaborated about his role and stated, “Isa po akong PSG na masisira ‘yung kanyang pag-iisip dahil magiging cynical siya at mawawalan siya ng gana hanggang sa nabigyan siya ng isang importanteng task.”
GMA Chairman and CEO, Atty. Felipe L. Gozon openly expressed that Dantes is one of the network’s most prized talents.
“Kaming mga abugado, mahilig kami sa ebidensya at exhibit, and he is our exhibit number one kung papaano nakakadevelop ng artista ang channel 7,” declared Gozon.
