Dingdong Dantes

Dingdong Dantes and Direk Dominic Zapata bring chaos, heart, and high‑intensity action to their new series, 'The Master Cutter.'

Dingdong Dantes is teaming up once again with acclaimed TV director Dominic Zapata for the much‑anticipated action drama The Master Cutter.

On February 9, it was announced that the series will premiere on Netflix Philippines this April, in addition to airing on the Kapuso TV network. The announcement was made during the “Next on Netflix 2026” event, where both Dingdong and Direk Dom gave fans a first look into the gripping world of The Master Cutter.

Direk Dominic Zapata revealed that the show takes place in Baclaran, Parañaque City, a district known for its fast pace, colorful characters, and everyday chaos.

“We layer the chaos of Baclaran with all the action scenes,” he explained. “But the point is that we want to see through the chaos and highlight individual characters—people who live in Baclaran. We try to delve into their lives, see what's behind them.”

Direk Dom emphasized that while the environment can look overwhelming, the series aims to show audiences that each person has a story worth telling.

“Ordinarily, when you see chaos, you don't think of people as individuals. You just think of them as a mob,” he said. “We explore these characters and showcase what you can appreciate about them. They're relatable—and spiced with a lot of action.”

Meanwhile, Dingdong Dantes shared what attracted him to the lead role of Atoy, a character with unexpected layers and disguises.

“Portraying Atoy is very interesting for me as a performer,” he said. “There is a performance within a performance. Atoy gets into disguises—he becomes someone else. Sometimes he's a clown, sometimes a Cuban mafia. Ang daming mga characters na pinaglalaruan. As a performer, I love that there's acting within the acting.”

This chameleon‑like nature allows Dingdong to explore multiple personalities within the series, highlighting his versatility as one of the country's top actors.

Aside from its gripping concept, Dingdong said the show is elevated even further by its powerhouse cast.

“I'm so happy to be surrounded by brilliant actors like Paolo Contis, Max Collins, Shuvee Etrata, Charlie Fleming, Sienna Stevens, and Jo Berry,” he shared. “Aside from being action‑packed, what I love about it is that it's full of heart.”

With its combination of high‑energy sequences, grounded storytelling, and an emotionally driven ensemble, The Master Cutter is poised to be one of GMA's biggest releases of 2026.
