Following his successful stint as Orly in GMA Afternoon Prime series Maghihintay Pa Rin, Dion Ignacio is taking things slow and using his free time to develop his skills in acting and music.

Following his successful stint as Orly in GMA Afternoon Prime series Maghihintay Pa Rin, Dion Ignacio is taking things slow and using his free time to develop his skills in acting and music.

GMANetwork.com sat down for an exclusive interview with the tall and handsome Kapuso actor as he reflected on his showbiz journey.

Dion Ignacio broke into showbiz via the reality talent search, StarStruck. Among his batchmates are winners Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras, Yasmien Kurdi and Sheena Halili. He finished as an avenger.

Dion shared that he never expected himself to become an actor because his original plan was to become a seaman.

“Alam mo, sa totoo lang, hindi ko talaga ginusto. Parang God’s will siguro. Kasi tignan mo, ito, dahil sa pag-aartista, napag-aral ko ‘yung mga kapatid ko,” stated Dion.

He added, “Noong artista na ako, doon ko na ginusto talaga. Sabi ko, aalamin ko ‘yung sistema dito, hanggang sa ngayon, ayan parang dirediretso na.”

Since his latest show just wrapped up, what keeps him busy nowadays?

Dion replied, “Ngayon, mag a-acoustic band muna ako habang walang taping. ‘Yung parang Boyce Avenue. Balak kong bumili ng amplifiers na pang acoustic. Gusto ko may sarili akong dala sa gig para kung ano ‘yung timpla ko sa bahay, ‘yun din sa gig.”

Practice is very important for Dion, whether it be for his musical endeavours or acting. That for him is the key to success.

“Kailangan talaga ng practice sa lahat ng bagay kahit sa pag-acting. Inaaral ‘yan, parang may homework ka, para pagdating mo sa set, handa ka sa mga emotions na kailangang ibigay,” said Dion.

“Nagreresearch din ako sa character o kaya sa music. Kunwari, mayroon akong iko-cover na kanta. Hindi doon mismo sa remixed na. Mag-search ka ng live kasi doon mo makikita at maririnig kung paano talaga dapat,” he added.

How does he prepare for his roles on television and film?

He answered, “Sa acting naman, lagi akong nanonood sa YouTube ng Inside Actor Studio. Lagi akong nanonood ng mga acting advice at ina-apply ko iyon.”

What kind of role would he like to try out next?

“Gusto kong ma-try ‘yung action. Gusto ko sanang makapareha si Kylie Padilla kasi marunong siyang mag Martial Arts,” he shared.

Throughout Dion’s 10-year showbiz career, he has definitely proven himself. What is the best thing about being in showbiz?

“Marami akong natutulungan at ang mga artista, maraming napapasaya,” stated Dion.
