Dion talks to us about his first aswang role, being directed by Direk Yam, and why parents should accompany their kids when watching 'Patient X.'
Dion Ignacio is not just happy na napabilang siya sa cast ng 'Patient X', proud din ang binata to be under the helm of Yam Laranas, who directed the Hollywood film 'The Echo.' Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. Sa Patient X, Dion Ignacio plays the role of Samuel. "Isa ako dito sa mga aswang," Dion tells us during our interview nung primer shoot para sa StarStruck V. "Ako 'yung pinaka-bunsong aswang dito," dagdag pa ng binata, who will be acting alongside Elvis Gutierrez and Rocky Gutierrez. "Ako ang papatay sa [mga tao]." "First time kong maging aswang sa pelikula," kuwento ni Dion sa amin. He hopes his fans will like what they see when they watch the movie, dahil ibang-iba ito sa mga roles na kanyang ginampanan lately. He adds, "'yung acting na ginawa ko, 'yung effort na ginawa ko para sa film na 'to—sana suportahan nila." Working with Cristine Reyes and Direk Yam Laranas Dion is part of the first batch of StarStruck hopefuls, kasabayan ni Cristine Reyes. Kaya tinanong namin siya kung kamusta naman katrabaho ang kaibigan niya since lumipat ito sa kabilang network: "Masaya," ang mabilis na sagot ni Dion. Though, he also admits, "nagulat ako. Kasi nag-iba [siya]: gumanda, gumaling siya umacting talaga—nahasa siya." Pero it's Direk Yam Laranas who truly caught Dion's interest sa movie. "Parang Hollywood 'yung dating," was how Dion described the working environment para sa Patient X. Sa mga nakita niya on how Direk Yam directed the scenes, "napakaganda. Ang galing ng mata niya talaga." Dion says he trusts entirely sa vision ng kanilang director. "Proud ako na na-direct ako ni Direk Yam Laranas." Dagdag pa niya na Patient X reinvents horror again, much like how Sigaw reinvented the Filipino horror genre back in 2004. "'Di ba may mga horror na parang nakikita mo, hindi nakakatakot? Eto iba." Dion promises that Patient X will not hold back on the scare factor; "may blood effects, bituka, pugot-ulo—medyo violent ang dating." Kaya naman kids should be accompanied by their parents when they watch Patient X. And kung naghahanap ang manonood ng happy ending, Dion says the aswangs will get what's coming to them din daw sa movie. "Abangan niyo kung paano ako mamamatay," Dion teases.
