It seems the infamous birthday party of "eventologist" Tim Yap held at The Manor in Baguio City last month is still fresh in the minds of netizens.
Recently, Tim had to respond to a basher, when he uploaded his photo on Instagram while staying in Nasugbu, Batangas on February 9.
The basher commented on his post saying, “Hoy pagkatapos ng Baguio [diyan ka] naman magkakalat.”
The controversial figure politely responded, “Responsible tourism and wearing mask na nga. Sana support na lang po.”
Tim Yap drew flak from Pinoy netizens, who expressed disappointment over his birthday party last January 17 held at The Manor in Baguio City. Videos of the said party was uploaded online showing people violating the strict COVID-19 protocols like wearing of face masks and practicing social distancing.
In a report by primetime newscast 24 Oras, Tim Yap explained what happened during his birthday bash.
“Please don't call it a party.
“It was a dinner, and the event was to promote local artists and businesses that were finally reopened for tourists after almost a year of no business.”
“In fact, the video you see dancing was only a few minutes snapshot versus three to four days responsible touring of Baguio to promote local artists and businesses.”
GMA News Online earlier reported that the Baguio City government imposed fines of P1,500 each to Tim Yap and 32 other guests.
Those who were fined include: actress-singer KC Concepcion and Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong's wife Arlene.
The TV host and columnist had already apologized over the party.
In an interview with CNN Philippines, Tim said, “I am very, very sorry for those videos that came out where we didn't wear our masks. There's no excuse for not wearing your masks. We have to be at all times vigilant and take care of each other.”
“It is not in any of my wishes to endanger anyone.” Tim added.
