Djanin Cruz comes from a family of showbiz royalty—she is the daughter of veteran actor Tirso Cruz III.

And she intends to show off her acting chops in Beautiful Strangers the on-again, off-again girlfriend ni Lawrence na karakter ni Benjamin Alves.

"Ako si Hannah dito. In love ako sa character ni Benjamin Alves. Ako 'yung emotionally involved sa kanya, pero sa akin wala siyang paki," Djanin says of her character.

How does her character play into the story?

"Eventually, I'll be working sa company ng parents namin. I'll work under Ms. Dina Bonnevie (Alejandra). Magiging scheming daw kami para sa kanilang lahat," she explains.

Djanin shares that the atmosphere in the set is very light, but admits feeling a bit awkward working with people who are her family friends, like Christopher de Leon, who plays Alejandra's husband, Ronaldo.

"Medyo awkward lang 'pag may kissing scenes! Nakita nila 'kong lumaki tapos parang... okay... Pero supportive naman sila. Sobrang bait. Calm lang," she tells GMANetwork.com.

Fortunately, she is given enough space to be able to complete her scenes.

"They don't show na parang 'Oh, we're watching you.' They just let me be. Kung ano yung sinasabi ng director sige lang," she shares.

She adds that the awkwardness is easier to shake off once they are all in character.

"'Pag may scenes na medyo intimate, hindi sila nanonood sa rehearsal. Kunwari dedma sila. Pero 'pag taping, in character na. Nakakatulong din sa 'kin kasi walang kaba na nanonood sila," Djanin says.

Watch out for Djanin in Beautiful Strangers, beginning August 10 on GMA Telebabad.
